Our Mission & Archival Purpose
Teer Result Shillong (teerresultshillong.in) is an independent, non-commercial digital archive and news platform dedicated to documenting the centuries-old cultural tradition of indigenous Khasi archery (Teerandadi) in Meghalaya, India. We specialize in providing verified, real-time score updates, archival records, historical chart trends, and statistical probability analyses for indigenous archery events conducted across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
Our platform was established to solve a critical information challenge: providing citizens, cultural historians, sports analysts, and traditional archery enthusiasts with timely, 100% verified numbers directly from the official scorekeepers at Polo Ground in Shillong, eliminating inaccurate figures, rumors, and unverified third-party claims.
The Cultural Heritage of Khasi Archery (Teer)
Archery holds a sacred place in the indigenous folklore and martial traditions of the Khasi community. Historically referred to as "Ka Rongbiria" (the play of arrows), traditional archery competitions have been celebrated during seasonal community gatherings for generations.
Every day except Sundays, organized archery clubs affiliated with the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA) assemble at the historic Polo Ground in Shillong. Fifty skilled marksmen, selected from registered local archery clubs across various villages and localities, participate in two distinct rounds of shooting:
- First Round (F/R): Each archer is allotted thirty cane and bamboo arrows, released toward a traditional cylindrical target within a strictly monitored four-minute window.
- Second Round (S/R): Each archer shoots twenty arrows under identical regulated distance and timing rules.
Once the shooting concludes, accredited referees and association elders gather the arrows that successfully struck the target in plain view of spectators. The arrows are systematically counted in bundles of ten. The final declared number represents the last two digits of the aggregate arrow count. For instance, if 1,173 arrows strike the target in the first round, the official winning number declared for that round is 73.
Legal Status & Regulatory Recognition
Unlike standard commercial lotteries or unregulated games of chance, traditional archery in Meghalaya is legally recognized, licensed, and regulated under state legislation:
Legal Foundation: The Meghalaya Amusements and Traditional Archery Activity Tax (Amendment) Act, 1982.
Under this legislative framework, indigenous archery activities and their authorized informational booths operate legally within the territorial jurisdiction of the State of Meghalaya under official state licenses.
